Handling Discounts in Shopify

Shopify supports dollar discounts ($10 off), percentage discounts (10% off) and free shipping discounts. You can apply other rules such as dates, products, or collections.

Discounts are calculated and applied to orders in Shopify. They are calculated on products or collections, applying the criteria you set. The discount is applied to the sale subtotal regardless of how it was initially calculated. The sales tax, if applicable, is applied to the resulting subtotal. The Order is then synced to AccountEdge, where the discount is applied at the line item level for items and services sold.

The total discount amount and the name of the Shopify discount are recorded in the Invoice Notes field and distributed across the transaction line items.
