Important Note:
Depending on your situation (i.e., whether you have been using AccountEdge for years and have a new Shopify store, are new to both AccountEdge and Shopify, are new to AccountEdge and have been using Shopify, or have been using them both separately), the instructions for setting up Shopify and AccountEdge properly are fundamentally the same. The key difference is if you have been using AccountEdge and have an existing Shopify store.

Link AccountEdge to your Shopify Web Store
- Verify you're running AccountEdge Pro 34.0.19 or newer with the latest updates installed. This version is required in order to link your Shopify store with AccountEdge. If you are not running at least AccountEdge Pro 34.0.19, you'll need to upgrade.
- Before connecting AccountEdge to your Shopify Store, be sure to download and subscribe to ShopSync from the Shopify app store. Find it here: https://apps.shopify.com/accountedge-sync.
-
Once downloaded, go to https://shopsync.accountedge.com add your Store Name and click Link to Shopify. This is a one-time process. This will enable you to connect your store to your AccountEdge company file. Once subscribed and connected to ShopSync, follow these directions to connect to your AccountEdge company file:
- Open up your default web browser and log into your Shopify store with your Admin email and password.
- In AccountEdge Pro, select Setup > Web Store, and enter your Shopify Store Address in the Web Store Setup window
- Click Link Web Store
- Follow the prompt to log in to Shopify (if needed) and click Install App. This will install ShopSync, which will allow AccountEdge Pro to sync with Shopify.

- Configure Web Store: click to manage and configure your web store
- Unlink Web Store: disconnect Shopify from AccountEdge Pro
- View Shopify Logs: see a list of files containing transaction download information, warning and error messages
-
Selling Details
- Select item(s) to sell: From the list of AccountEdge Pro items that are marked as 'I Sell', indicate which items to sell in your Shopify store.
- Be sure the item is marked as “I sell this item in my Web Store” and (optionally) you have a Web Store price set up, both in the Item Information > Selling Details window.
- Also, if used, configure tracking inventory in the Item Information > Locations window, where you can select to Track Inventory in Shopify, and set up your target quantity of items to be available, or allocated for sale, in your store. If tracked in Shopify, this setting will sync to AccountEdge.
- When importing paid order transactions from Shopify to AccountEdge Pro, you can choose to import customers as new Customer Cards into AccountEdge Pro or associate all orders with one unique customer card, which you'll need to select from your AccountEdge cards list.
- Select a service or non-inventory item to allocate tips and for Miscellaneous Refunds. The items linked income account will determine where the revenue on these transactions is posted.
-
Linked Accounts
- Indicate a Tax Code Linked Account, which is a liability account for sales tax collected on Shopify orders.
- If inventory is tracked in Shopify mark “I buy items imported from Shopify” so these items will be marked as “I Buy, I sell, and I Inventory” in AccountEdge. Define your linked accounts for imported Shopify items that are bought and sold to set their default GL accounts.
-
Sync Options
- You can set AccountEdge Pro to sync manually, automatically, upon opening or closing a company file, or both.
- Click Sync: Send new and updated web store items to Shopify. Import newly created items from Shopify
- Sync All: Sends all selected AccountEdge Items to Shopify, not only changed items.
Syncing can also be performed from the Sync menu at the bottom of each command center window. Select Sync > Web Store Items or > Web Store Orders.
