Uninstall / Reinstall FileConnect

Background

To uninstall FileConnect you need to delete several files. This page will walk you through how to delete FileConnect for your version of the software and then reinstall it (if so desired).

To Remove (Uninstall) FileConnect 

  1. Verify FileConnect is not running:
    1. At the top left of your screen click the little Apple icon.
    2. Select System Preferences from that drop down.
    3. Click the AccountEdge button in the bottom left of System Preferences.
    4. If FileConnect is running "Press the Stop FileConnect" button to turn it off.
  2. With FileConnect off click anywhere on your desktop so at the top left of your screen next to the Apple icon it says "Finder."
  3. At the top of your screen to the right of where it says "Finder" select the "Go" menu.
  4. From the Go drop down select "Computer."
  5. In the finder window that opens to your Computer folder, you should see your Hard Drive.
  6. After clicking into Macintosh HD (or Equivalent) open the Library folder and delete the following:
    • In the folder: /Library/Preferences, Delete the file: com.acclivity.fileconnect.plist
    • In the folder: /Library/PreferencePanes, Delete the file: AccountEdge.prefpane
    • In the folder: /Library/LaunchDaemons, Delete the file: com.acclivity.fileconnect.plist
    • In the folder: /Library/Application Support/Acclivity, delete FileConnect and FileConnectHelper
  7. After deleting these files follow steps 3-5 to go back to the main Library folder. Go through the User folder to the Shared User folder. To the Library. To Application Support.
    • In the folder: /Users/Shared/Library/Application Support delete fileConnectSettings.plist

After this, AccountEdge Network Edition has been fully uninstalled. You can proceed to reinstall.

Reinstalling FileConnect

In order to reinstall File Connect, open AccountEdge NE then click "Company File Maintenance" drop-down on the bottom right of the welcome window and select "Download File Connect" - this will open your web browser download the latest version of File Connect. Double-Click on the download and install File Connect then at the end of that process, your mac will need to be restarted. After your mac is restarted, please make sure your File Connect is running under System Preferences > AccountEdge.
